James P. Williams Scholarship Application

ELIGIBILITY

To be eligible for the $500 Book Scholarship, the student must:

  • Be a United States citizen (subject to verification)

  • Parent/Legal Guardian and/or Student must be a resident of NYC

  • Be a high school senior planning to enroll in an accredited post-secondary institution* OR

  • Current college student at an accredited postsecondary institution*

  • Complete/submit the application

  • Submit 500+ word typed essay answering

    • Beyond the Transcript: Your GPA and test scores tell one story, but they don’t define who you are.

      In your essay, share something about yourself that isn’t reflected in your academic record but is an important part of who you are. Then, describe a personal goal that matters deeply to you and outline the steps you are taking (or plan to take) to achieve it. How does this goal align with your values, experiences, or passions?

  • Complete/submit application and essay by June 30, 2025


    *Approved accredited institutions are defined as accredited, post-secondary two or four-year colleges or universities in the United States. Proof of enrollment is a condition of eligibility for a scholarship award and will be required before funds will be disbursed.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDING

If you are awarded the scholarship from the Williams-Daniels Family Foundation, in order to receive scholarship funds you must provide:

  • Verification of accredited post-secondary institution enrollment.

  • Verification of United States citizen

  • Verification of Parent/Legal Guardian and/or Student residency of NYC
